As I mentioned before we left for Europe, my cat Argo had her diabetes get out of control and nearly died. She’s doing much better… almost too much better. We have had to give her insulin shots for the past month and it’s been a challenge to get her glucose level under control. We’ve yet to find the right amount of insulin she requires and her glucose has been consistently very high. Recently, we’ve been trying to regulate their feeding by only providing food in the morning & night as opposed to just having food available at all times. Coupled with the cats “missing us”, Christina and I haven’t gotten much sleep for the past few weeks.

Argo has been almost hyper-active, particularly at nights. She also likes to lay on peoples heads and on pillows — not a good combination for Christina who is fastidious about the cleanliness of her pillow. Argo tends to wander at night and only intermittently wanders into the room, generally timing her visits when Christina gets up to go to the bathroom so that she can take Christina’s spot in the bed. So I get woken up several times a night asking if I can please move Argo.

Beta is obsessed with sniffing and “kissing” people which is not the most pleasant way to be woken up in the morning. Unlike Argo, Beta tends to lay with us all night and likes to lay on my chest or Christina’s side & back. There has been more than one occasion when I’ve woken up to find Christina pinned by Beta laying on Christina’s side (how that’s comfortable for Beta, I have no idea). Beta will then stretch to lean in to sniff Christina’s lips while Christina is trying to pull back — but unable to move because she’s held down by Beta.

I once gave a presentation where I mocked the number the websites devoted to cats and while I do find my cats entertaining, I will keep the posts about cats to a minimum. But how can you not be entertained by Christina and those she refers to as her “frenemies”…

Update: Chuck sent me this very appropriate video.
