In the great libraries of Mongolromania, a scribe was cleaning out the basement of a library and came upon an old trunk containing several long-lost books of history.   Among those was a short book in the words of a Russian scholar.  The history detailed the rise and fall of the Russian tribe, a group of people who once wandered the southern plains.  This is their story…

Story

On a desolate plain on the south coast of the great continent, there once was a tribe that yearned to take its place on the world stage.  These Russians began in much the way all nations do — by attempting to expand beyond their immediate lands.  Exploration wrought many changes in Russian society.  Encounters with hostile peoples to the north, the Mongols, and to the west, the Greeks, led to advances in military equipment and soon many Russians were outfitted with state-of-the-art bow and arrows.  A more friendly tribe, the Germans, were found far to the west on a peninsula.  The Germans were led by an inexperienced child, having been declared king when his father was assassinated by a rival tribe.  A mutual alliance was created and the Russians pledged to provide advisors to help the young German king.

The aspirations of the Russian people were greater than the meager resources of Moscow could provide.  A group of determined adventurers set off to found another colony in the hills and mountains — hopeful that the immense natural resources available there would help develop the fledgling nation.  Unfortunately, Mongol skirmishers ambushed the settlers and the Russian expedition was sold off into slavery.  The best chance for the Russian civilization turned into a minor footnote in the rise of the great Mongolromania civilization.

Still reeling from the loss of their bravest adventures, the world was not yet done tormenting the Russians.  Greek Hoplites came rushing onto the southern plains and pillaged the land around Moscow.  Unable to dislodge the Greeks, the Russians were forced into sustenance living.  A minor colony was founded nearby but it shared resources with Moscow and both cities struggled to develop.  With few options remaining, Moscow turned its attention to developing its German ally.  Russian advisors led the Germans to found two additional cities as well build a military force capable of defending the peninsula.  In thanks, the Germans laid seige to the city of Athens hoping to force the recall of the Greek hoplites outside of Moscow.  Eventually, this strategy paid off and the Moscow plains were freed of enemy troops.

The Russians had started to get word of another great civilization, the Romans.  Though the Russians never met them directly, rumors suggested that the Romans were a relatively small but extremely advanced civilization that had allied itself with the Mongols.  The expansionist Mongols provided the military forces to secure their lands while the Romans provided scientists and expertise.  Both nations benefited greatly from this arrangement and as we know now, eventually would merge into the great Mongolromanian nation that dominates the world today.

As the Romans and Mongols continued to develop, the Russians were finally able to build a third city.  Founded across the plains of Moscow, Kiev and the modest resources around it were considered quite impressive to the poor Russians.  Emboldened, another settler was created to re-attempt the failed expedition from eons ago and found a city in the hills to the north.  Unfortunately, they came across the Mongol city of Bokhara already settled there.  The adventurers returned with rumors of extremely sophisticated technologies and military equipment the Russians could only dream of.

Dreams turned into nightmares.  First, news came of the assassination of the German child-king.  Without a ruler, the upstart Germans became aimless.  The Russian advisors were recalled to Russia in time to face an insurmountable invasion.  Monstrous armored beasts, referred to as tanks by the Mongols, suddenly drove into the Russian lands.  Russian archers sent wave after wave of arrows against the tanks to little effect.  Moscow, Kiev, and finally the whole Russian nation succumbed.

In his last moments, the Russian scholar wrote of the news they received shortly before the last Russian city was siezed.  Roman bombers, enormous flying weapons of war, had destroyed Athens.  Tanks and heavily equipped infantry had also laid siege to Berlin.  In a matter of little more than a week, three fledgling nations were removed from the face of the earth.  With nothing remaining to challenge their power, the Mongols and Romans formalized their alliance and merged into the modern nation of Mongolromania.
